WhatsApp has rolled out a new ‘voice status updates’ feature to iOS users. This feature lets you record voice notes and share them as your WhatsApp status updates. Earlier the company had already released this feature for Android devices but with this current update, it is also available to iPhone users.
The Meta-owned platform has been working on the ability to send voice notes as status updates for quite some time. At first, this feature was rolled out for beta testing. Then the company gradually rolled it out to more users and now it is finally available to all iOS users.

WhatsApp Voice Status Updates feature
The popular instant messaging platform has enabled the voice status updates features to all iOS users. This function has been added within the text status section of WhatsApp. To share a voice note as your status update you need to open the WhatsApp status section.
Then tap on the ‘pencil’ icon that will redirect you to the status update page. Now press and hold the ‘mic’ icon to record your voice message and hit the arrow button to post your recorded voice status update.

The platform lets you check and delete a recording before sharing it or even after sharing it. With this option, you get more control over your voice recordings. Also, remember that the time limit for recording a voice message or note is only up to 30 seconds.
Moreover, you can select your audience who can see your voice status and also disallow certain people from using WhatsApp’s private audio selection feature which is now available.

Earlier you needed to select your audience manually from the app’s settings menu and the settings then remained active for all status updates. But now you can select the private audio selector only for specific status updates, which makes the voice status updates feature very easy to use. Notably this feature is fully encrypted and just like image and video status updates it also disappears after 24 hours.
