WhatsApp rolling out Chat Lock feature for iOS and Android users

WhatsApp is rolling out chat lock features for iOS and Android users. This feature was announced by the Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg through the official Meta channel. As reported by the leading WhatsApp news source WABetaInfo, this feature lets users lock their conversations in a protected WhatsApp folder.

Earlier the company had rolled out this privacy feature for testing on WhatsApp beta for Android app and WhatsApp beta for iOS app. But at that time it was limited only to some select beta users. WhatsApp rolling out chat lock feature

In a previous article on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.9.14 update, the WhatsApp news portal mentioned the chat lock feature. Later on, the Meta-owned company released the same feature to iOS beta testers too in the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.9.0.71 update.

After installing these updates certain beta testers were able to protect their particular WhatsApp conversations. This feature lets you lock your chats that could be accessed only through a passcode or biometric authentication. Now the company is officially releasing the ability to lock conversations to everyone.

WABetaInfo has also released a screenshot of the feature. In the image, you can see that the chat lock feature has been made official through Meta’s official website. To lock any conversation just go to the contact’s chat info. There you will find a newly added option called ‘chat lock’.

Tap on that and the feature will be enabled. As per the reports, this feature is very helpful to protect your personal data and sensitive information from other people. It also enhances your privacy and security.

As mentioned earlier the chat lock feature is now available to everyone who installs the latest update of WhatsApp for Android 2.23.10.71 from the Google Play Store and WhatsApp for iOS 2.23.9.77 from the App Store or test flight app. The company is rolling it out to more users over the coming days so those who still don’t have the ability to lock conversations will get it soon in a future update.
