
Nothing has officially released its latest operating system upgrade, Nothing OS 3.0, based on Android 15. Keeping with its basic design philosophy, the update offers a number of improvements aimed at improving personalization, connectivity, and productivity.
New Features
The Nothing Gallery app is a standout feature of the upgrade, with enhanced search capabilities and expanded photo editing features. Users can enjoy tools such as filters, markup choices, and AI-powered suggestions to make photo editing easier and more fun.
Another intriguing innovation is Shared Widgets, which let users to engage with friends and family right from their lock screens. These widgets are customisable, but they only function between Nothing devices and support square-shaped Photo Widgets. However, no plans have been revealed to include support for other widget kinds in future releases.
Enhanced Features
Nothing OS 3.0 also includes new tools for increasing productivity. The Countdown Widget, which helps users keep track of significant dates, will soon be available on Google Play through the Nothing Widgets app. The update now includes an AI-powered Smart Drawer, which automatically organizes apps into folders, making navigating quicker and faster.
The operating system also has revised Quick Settings, a better Pop-up View for multitasking, and refreshed typography, resulting in a more seamless user experience overall.
Rollout Schedule
Nothing OS 3.0 will be rolled out gradually. The upgrade will be available to users of the Nothing Phone (2) and Phone (2a) by the end of the year, while users of the Nothing Phone (1), Phone (2a) Plus, and CMF Phone 1 can expect it in early 2025.
Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition
In addition to software updates, Nothing just introduced the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition, a limited-edition variant with a phosphorescent back inspired by fireflies. This ingenious design absorbs daylight and emits a mellow green glow, producing a one-of-a-kind appearance without the need for batteries.
This device, priced at ₹29,999 for the 12+256GB option, is limited to 1,000 copies internationally. Priority access for community members began on November 12, with purchasing information available on the Nothing community site.
