WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging programs globally, and it keeps improving its functionality. The most recent update gives the UI a new look by adding new icons to the attachment sheet. Android users on stable versions are currently receiving this update globally.

New Changes

You may exchange documents, contacts, locations, and more by tapping the paperclip icon in the chatbox, which opens the attachment sheet. WhatsApp has redesigned these icons with a “square with rounded corners” (squircle) look, replacing their previous rounded form.

Beta versions of this new design were first created in early 2023. It is now at last available to all users in the stable version.

Difference

The new WhatsApp attachment icons are shaped like a modern squircle, while the old ones were round and plain.

  • The redesigned icons include colored elements inside, while the older ones had just white line art.
  • The Document and Gallery icons have undergone significant revisions, appearing crisper and more elegant.

Global Rollout

WhatsApp versions 2.25.1.75 and 2.25.1.76 in India and Canada, respectively, have been observed to have this upgrade. This means that stable users are now able to access the redesign globally.

To see the new appearance, just upgrade WhatsApp from the Google Play Store if you’re still seeing the outdated icons.

iOS Design

WhatsApp’s Android version now more closely resembles the iOS app appearance thanks to the latest UI updates. Originally seen on iPhones, this updated attachment sheet is now available on Android devices as well.

Meta appears to be closing the design gap between iOS and Android by standardizing WhatsApp’s UI across various operating platforms.
