WhatsApp is rolling out the ‘Search for contacts – groups in common’ feature for beta Android users. With this feature, you will be able to see a list of all those groups that you have in common with the contact you are searching for. At present Search for contacts – groups in common feature will be available only to some select beta testers.

The Meta-owned Company has been regularly working to improve user experience on the app by adding new advanced features. Last year the platform released a quick group search feature by entering a common contact name to desktop users. In this current beta update, the platform is enabling the same feature for Android users.

WhatsApp Search for Contacts – groups in common

In a previous article shared by WABetaInfo, three months back the leading WhatsApp news portal mentioned the ability to see a list of groups, users have in common with the contact they are searching for. At that time the platform had rolled out this feature to desktop clients. Now it is rolling out the same feature to beta Android users.

The report mentions that this feature will be very useful to users when they forget the name of a particular group but remember the name of a specific group participant. So, they can search for the group’s name just by typing the group participant’s name.

The WhatsApp news source has also shared a screenshot of the feature. In the image, you can see that the platform has added a new section within the contact search bar called ‘groups in common’. This new section provides you with additional information when you search for contacts within the search bar.

Search for contacts – groups in common feature is currently available to those Android beta users who install the latest 2.23.6.20 beta version from the Google Play beta program. However, some iOS beta users can also use this feature by installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.5.0.75 version from the TestFight beta program.

As mentioned earlier at present only some select beta testers can test this new feature. The platform is rolling it out to more users in the coming updates. So, those who don’t have this feature right now will have to wait for a future update.
