WhatsApp’s Message Translation Feature Comes to iOS
WhatsApp has started rolling out its Message Translation feature for iOS devices. The rollout began on September 23, after its earlier launch on Android. Users can now translate messages inside personal chats, group conversations, and channel updates directly within the app.
To use the feature, users need to update WhatsApp to version 25.28.74 from the App Store. Once updated, they can select a message, long-press it, and tap on the “Translate” option. The translated text will appear just below the original message, keeping conversations clear and natural.
This new update brings a smoother communication experience for users who chat with people from different language backgrounds. It eliminates the need to switch between translation apps or copy messages. The translation happens instantly within the same chat window.
How the Feature Works on iOS Devices
WhatsApp’s new translation system uses Apple’s translation APIs. This means all translations are processed securely within the iPhone. The data never leaves the device, keeping all messages completely private.
The translation engine automatically detects the language of each message. However, if the detected language is wrong, users can select the correct one manually.
To use translations offline, users must download the language packs first. Once installed, WhatsApp can translate messages even without an internet connection or in Airplane Mode.
The feature works in all types of chats including:
- Individual Chats: Translate one-on-one messages instantly.
- Group Chats: Understand multilingual group discussions easily.
- Channels: Follow global updates without language barriers.
This design helps users keep up with international conversations smoothly. The translated message appears right below the original, helping users understand both versions at once.
