What is WhatsApp Communities feature
WhatsApp Communities is a new feature that lets you add multiple groups in one place. In simple words, it is a “group of groups”.
For example, let’s say you are the principal of a school and you have groups of different classes – 6th A, 6th B, 7th A, 7th B… Now you can add all of them in a community named “Middle School”. And whenever you want to give any important information to everyone, you put it in the community announcement.
Why is it special
Now the question arises – when there are groups then what is the need of community?
So the answer is – central communication and easy management.
- Now there is no need to manage each group separately.
- All the information can be given to the entire network at once.
- The admin gets more control and clarity.
- Very useful in setups like school, college, office, society.
How to use
1. Open WhatsApp and go to the ‘Communities’ tab
- Install the latest version of WhatsApp. Now you will see the Communities option in the bottom navigation bar.
2. Create a new community
- Tap on ‘New Community’
- Enter your community name, description and profile photo
- Now click on ‘Next’
3. Add groups or create new groups
- Now you can add existing groups if you want
- or create new groups – like ‘Marketing Team’, ‘Design Team’ etc.
4. Announcement group will be created automatically
- Once the community is created, an announcement group will also be created from where you can send messages to all sub-groups.
