What is Clean Energy Charging Feature
In simple words, this feature charges your iPhone when the electricity in your area is coming from clean and environmentally friendly sources. That is, your phone will charge faster only when there is more amount of solar, wind or water energy in the grid.
How clean energy charging works
Now you must be wondering- how does the iPhone know what kind of electricity is coming in the grid? The answer is- location & grid forecasting.
Your iPhone analyzes the data of the local power grid keeping in mind your location. When it feels that clean energy is available in large quantities at this time, it gives priority to charging at that time. During this time, optimized battery charging also remains active in the background, which does not affect the health of the battery.
How to turn it on
- Go to iPhone Settings
- Scroll down and tap on the Battery option
- Now go to Battery Health and Charging
- Here you will find the option for Clean Energy Charging
- Turn it on – and you’re done!
Does this feature work everywhere
No. Currently, Clean Energy Charging only works in countries where Apple can get data from the local energy grid. Such as the US, where the feature was first launched. The feature is not fully active in India yet, but Apple may roll it out globally in the future.
