Since the Galaxy S21 Ultra launched support for the stylus, Samsung has continuously improving the S-Pen experience. The most recent Galaxy S25 Ultra, however, has a startling new feature: the built-in S-Pen is not Bluetooth compatible.
Although Samsung first suggested that a stand-alone Bluetooth-enabled S-Pen would be available, the company has since made clear that this is not what enthusiasts were looking for.
No Bluetooth S-Pen
When Samsung’s Insights blog implied that customers might buy a stand-alone Bluetooth-enabled S-Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, there was some initial uncertainty. Samsung has now formally acknowledged to Android Authority that this was a mistake and that the S25 Ultra is completely incompatible with Bluetooth-enabled S-Pens.
What’s Missing Without Bluetooth
Users will no longer have access to Air Actions, which enabled gesture-based controls like as these, as the S-Pen no longer supports Bluetooth.
- Camera shutter control: In the past, users only needed to touch the S-Pen to take remote photos.
- Presentation controls: Using stylus motions, PowerPoint slides may be modified with ease.
- Media control: Using hand gestures, users could play or pause music or adjust the volume.
Remove Bluetooth from the S-Pen
Samsung claims that hardly many people used these functions. According to the corporation, a very small portion of consumers really utilized Bluetooth’s features. A Change.org petition has already been begun to urge Samsung to reinstate the Bluetooth-enabled S-Pen for the Galaxy S26 Ultra next year, as this move has frustrated power users.
What Does the S-Pen Still Offer
The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S-Pen maintains its essential features even after losing Bluetooth connectivity:
- Easy Writing & Drawing: Perfect for digital art and taking notes.
- Smooth Writing & Drawing: Quick access to necessary stylus tools is provided by Air Commands.
- Precision Tasks: Ideal for text selection, photo editing, and more.
- Lost Detection: If your stylus becomes lost, Lost Detection can help you find it.
