What is the restricted feature
It simply means – gradually sidelining someone without blocking them. When you restrict someone, he can comment on your post or story, but that comment will be visible only to him and you. Other people will not be able to see it. Not only this, when that person messages you, it will go to your message request.

How to ban

How to ban someone from the Instagram app
- Open Instagram and go to the profile you want to ban
- Tap on the three dots on the top right
- There you will see the option to ‘Restrict’ – click on it
- Confirm – and you’re done!
Ban someone from their comment
- Go to the comment section of any of your posts
- Swipe left on that user’s comment (iPhone) or press and hold it (Android)
- There you will see an ‘i’ icon or three dots – click on it
- Then select ‘Restrict’
You can also ban from settings
- Go to Instagram settings
- Go to Privacy > Restricted accounts
- From there, find that user’s name and ban them
