POCO has announced the POCO X7, which is already making headlines as a significant advance to its predecessor, the POCO X6. POCO is well-known for providing outstanding value, and our latest edition follows that trend. Let’s look at the important differences to help you decide whether the X7 is worth the premium.
Battery & Build
The X7 has a 5110mAh battery, which is somewhat larger than the X6’s 5100mAh. While the X6 offers 67W fast charging, the X7 compensates with increased battery life, claiming up to 1,600 charge cycles at 80% capacity. On the durability front, the X7’s IP68 water and dust protection outperforms the X6’s IP54 splash resistance.
Performance
With the Dimensity 7300-Ultra CPU, the POCO X7 improves performance significantly, scoring an astounding 704,404 on AnTuTu. This is a significant increase from the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 in the X6, which scored 605,803.
With the Mali-G615 GPU, the X7 is a gaming powerhouse, providing smoother performance for graphically heavy games and applications. It’s faster, more efficient, and ideal for people who want peak performance.
Display
The POCO X7 provides a sharper display experience, with a peak brightness of 3000 nits, greatly exceeding the X6’s 1800 nits. Furthermore, the X7 offers 2560Hz touch sampling, which makes interactions smoother and more responsive.
Both devices have a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ compatibility, however the X7 is more durable with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 than the X6.
Camera
The POCO X7 uses a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS and a larger f/1.5 aperture, resulting in crisper, brighter photographs even in low light. While the X6 has a 64MP camera, the X7’s upgraded sensor results in noticeably higher photo quality.
Both phones retain their 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro cameras. The X7’s front camera is 20MP, up from 16MP on the X6.
