What is Samsung Always-On Display
Samsung’s Always-On Display (AOD) is a feature that allows you to display important information without turning off your screen completely.
- There is no need to turn on the screen again and again to see the clock, date and notifications.
- It has a low impact on the battery as it works well with OLED and AMOLED displays.
- It has a customization option, allowing you to choose different styles, watch faces and color themes.
How to set it up
1. Turn on Always-on Display
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Display option.
- Click Always-on Display.
- Turn it “on”.
2. Choose the display mode of AOD
Samsung gives you the option to customize AOD according to your usage. There are three modes:
Tap to Show: The always-on display will appear only when you touch the screen.
Show Always: This mode keeps the AOD on continuously, but it may consume more battery.
Show as Scheduled: Here you can set a time when the AOD should turn on and off.
3. Customize AOD
Clock style: Choose from different clock designs.
Color & text: Set different colors for notifications and the clock.
Images and GIFs: Add background images or GIFs to AOD.
Customization
Go to Settings > Lock screen & AOD > Always-on display.
Go to Clock style or theme and choose the option you prefer.
Battery Optimize
If you want to use AOD but want to avoid battery drain, follow these tips:
- Choose “Tap to show” mode so AOD only turns on when you need it.
- Use low brightness and a dark theme.
- Keep AOD on only at night or at specific times of the day.
