Magic Eraser is an AI-based photo editing tool built into the Google Photos app on Google Pixel. It uses advanced machine learning and AI to remove unnecessary objects from photos.
When you use the Magic Eraser on a photo, it automatically detects which objects can be removed. You can manually select an object and the Magic Eraser blends it into the background, making the editing look natural.
How to activate Magic Eraser
Open the Google Photos app
First open the Google Photos app on your Google Pixel phone. This is the same app where all your photos are stored.
Select the photo to be edited
Now select the photo from which you want to remove something unwanted.
Go to the “Edit” option
After opening the photo, tap on the “Edit” button at the bottom.
Select the “Magic Eraser” tool
Click on the “Tools” tab in the Edit option and there you will see the option of “Magic Eraser”. Tap on it.
If your phone is a Google Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8 or the latest model, this option will be available by default. If it is not visible, make sure your Google Photos app is updated.
Select and delete objects
Now the Magic Eraser will automatically suggest things that can be removed. You can manually select the object with the brush tool if you want.
After selecting the object, press the “Erase” button. In a few seconds the object will disappear and the photo will look natural.
Save the edits
If you like the edits, press the “Done” button and then click the “Save Copy” option. This will keep your original photo safe and the edited photo will be saved as a new copy.
When to use the Magic Eraser feature correctly
