Why You Need Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds extra security. It works by requiring two forms of identification before you can log in. Even if someone has your password, they can’t access your account without the second factor. This extra layer makes your account more secure. Facebook offers several ways to set up 2FA.

Set Up Two-Factor Authentication Using Text Message

One of the easiest ways to enable 2FA is via text message. When you log in, you will receive a code by SMS. You must enter this code to access your account. Here’s how to set up 2FA with a text message on both the Facebook app and the website.

On Facebook App

Follow these steps to enable 2FA using SMS on the Facebook app:

Set Up Two-Factor Authentication Using an Authentication App

If you don’t want to use your phone number, you can use an authentication app instead. With this method, a six-digit code will be sent to the app. You can use apps like Google Authenticator or Duo Security to generate these codes.
