Conditions to Enable Monetization
The path to earning money from YouTube is a bit difficult, but not impossible. You have to meet some important eligibility criteria:
- Your channel should have 1000 subscribers
- You should have 4000 watch hours in the last 12 months
- Your channel should follow YouTube policies
- You should enable 2-step verification
- You should not have & active Community Guidelines strikes against you
How to start
1. Log in to YouTube Studio
First of all, log in to your Google account that your YouTube channel is linked to. Then open YouTube Studio.
2. Go to the ‘Monetization’ tab in the left menu
In the menu, you will find the option ‘Monetization’. The whole process will start from there.
3. Check monetization eligibility
Here you will find out if your 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours have been completed or not. If both are completed, then you can apply.
4. Apply for YouTube Partner Program (YPP)
Now you have to apply for YouTube Partner Program:
- Read and accept the terms and conditions
- Link AdSense account
- The channel review process will start
5. Channel review and approval
The YouTube team will manually review your channel to find out if your content is according to the rules. This may take from 1 week to 1 month. If everything goes right you will get monetization approval via email.
