We all get a lot of OTP messages on our mobile every day – banking, login, UPI, online shopping… and most of these messages become useless after being used once. Slowly these old OTP messages fill up our chat list and it becomes difficult to find the important message. But now there is a great feature for iPhone users that automatically deletes these unwanted OTP messages.
What is the new feature
In iOS 17 (or later versions), Apple has added a feature that automatically deletes OTP messages after 24 hours. This feature is especially for those who receive a lot of OTPs daily and find it difficult to delete them manually.
How to turn on this feature
1. Go to Settings
First open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap on Messages
Scroll down and tap on the Messages option.
3. Select Cleanup OTP option
Now you will see a new option – “Clean up automatically” or in some places it is written “Delete OTP after 24 hours”.
4. Turn on this option
Just turn it on and you are done! Now iPhone will automatically delete every OTP message after 24 hours.
Does this feature work on all messages
No, this feature only works on OTP messages. That is, only messages that contain a 6-digit code or OTP and they become useless after one use. Any personal messages, chats or SMS containing important information will not be affected by this – so rest assured.
Benefits
- The message app will be less cluttered
- You will be able to find important messages quickly
- Phone storage will be saved
- The hassle of manual deletion will end
