What is Safety Check

Safety Check is a feature that allows Google Pixel users to send safety updates in case of an emergency. Let’s say you’re traveling, out alone at night, or in an unfamiliar place – once you turn on this feature, it automatically sends an alert to people close to you if you don’t respond after a certain amount of time.

Important points

To use this feature, your phone must have the following things:

  • Google Pixel 4 or any later model
  • Android 12 or latest version
  • Google app must be update
  • Internet and GPS must be turned on

How to activate

Step 1: Open the Safety app
First, open the Personal Safety app on your Pixel phone. If it’s not already installed, download it from the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Select Safety Checkup
Once the app opens, the “Safety Checkup” option will appear on the screen. Tap on it.

Step 3: Set time
You will now be asked after how long you want to check-in – such as 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour.

Step 4: Select emergency contacts
In this step, you will select your trusted people to whom the notification will be sent in case of an emergency.

Step 5: Tap on Start
Once all the settings are done, tap on “Start” and your Safety Checkup will begin.
